You showed me something you could do, I've forgotten the name of it -- conjuring a flower out of thin air? Only conjuring wasn't the word you used. What was that?

Druid crafting?

I don't know if it would work, but is that something you'd be willing to teach me? Or failing that, could I ask you to druid-craft a few things for me? I don't know what you'd consider due compensation for either, or if that's appropriate to offer at all.

I can do both! It's a cantrip, I don't think it'd be hard to learn, but it still might take a little time, so I can make you things while you get it down pat.

... Would there be any appropriate compensation? Even just owing you a favor?

I mean, I can always use help with my gardens, or at the animal shelter.

I'd be happy to help with either. Or both. I've got more direct experience with plants than animals, but I can take direction anywhere.

I'm getting both the garden for the Slayer's Cake and the Lover's Garden ready for spring, you know, cleaning up and getting things planted? If you wanted to come by and help when you have the time!

If not that's okay, I like making things for people. And teaching. It's good practice for me, for the future.

Anytime in the afternoon would be fine, I'm there almost every day. Sometimes I take Sundays off.

... I might have to ask you how to get there, though. Is this garden on the castle grounds, or where is it?

No, they're both in town. The Lover's Garden is close to the outskirts, and the produce garden is next to the Slayer's Cake.

Okay, great. Anything I should know about the working conditions? Should I bring gardening gloves?

... And I'm remembering that I don't actually have gardening gloves, here.

I've got some you can borrow! And a sun hat!

Just wear something you don't mind getting dirty. [ That probably goes without saying doesn't it, oops. ] There's nothing dangerous or anything in either place. One is a produce garden, and the other is kind of meant to feel like a walk in the forest, without all of the stuff that comes with walking in the forest here, if that makes sense. No horny plants or owl bears.

...Well one owl bear but that's just Bacon Luis, he's tame.

... A tame owlbear named Bacon Luis?

Well his full name is Bacon Luis Turduckowlbearen.

A friend of mine found him in the forest as a cub. I took over raising him after he left.

[Liz grins, delighted almost to the point of laughter.]

That is a wonderful name and I hope I get to meet him.

He's a wonderful owlbear! Seriously, give him a handful of chicken livers and he's putty in your hands.

Does he like actual bacon? I can save some from breakfast.

He likes it okay! He liked it more when he was little. These days he likes raw things better, but he still enjoys the occasional bacon.
